Today we finished up our presentations and we basically finished up class.  Every group did a great job presenting their pieces.  It takes a lot of courage to get up there in front of an audience and we all did it to perfection.

Today we worked a little bit on our group project.  Then I looked up how the New Orleans Hornets were doing in the playoffs and unfortunately they are down 2-0 in the 7 game series.  Hopefully I can look back at this post and say haha when they win the series.  I digress.  Anyway we are doing a class evaluation and then im bouncing.

I called the number and told the person over the phone that he is not smart because the animal was a dog.  He insulted me over the phone so I asked him where he lived so I could go over and whoop his ass.  And conveniently, he lived right next door.  I show up to his house and we start brawling all over and then we accidentally bust open the door to the basement.  He was knocked out as we fell down the stairs and I look up and there are two dead bodies on a table being worked on by this strange man.

This was my creative writing story that our special guest speaker told us to do for her. She was very cool.

Raymond James
Mizzou Wrestling
SAAC Co-President

Dear Raymond,
I am writing this letter regarding the fact that we can only get a to-go box in the dining hall if we have a written permission slip from our coach or nutritionist.  Being a student athlete, we don't have the resources to go and spend money and time to get food steadily over the weeks.  Between, class, baseball, and studying, our schedule is pretty much booked as you know.  Our time is probably the resource that we treasure most considering the fact that we athletes are so busy.  since I don't have much time to go into the dining and hall and sit down to eat, I would like to take the food home and enjoy it after I get my studies done.  It would be nice to sit back and enjoy a nice meal for a change instead of rushing in the dining hall, whoofing down my food, and hurrying to study hall.  It is without a doubt, a pain in the butt.  I would really appreciate it if you could do everything in your power to get this rule changed.  Thanks for your time and your consideration.

Sincerely,
Michael Liberto

Today Mr. Heitmann number 3 came and talked to us about how he writes in his profession.  He is an attorney and he let us know how important it was for him to communicate with people.  It seemed more difficult for him to do because sometimes he has to answer questions in a non-lawyer way.  To me that might seem a little bit tough if your trained to do something a certain way, you would want to do it like that all the time.  But all in all he was very informative and i enjoyed having him here this morning.

Today Ms. Heitman came to our class and she explained the importance of writing in her profession. She told us not to have errors in letters of recommendation or things like that.  But I liked her because she brought us donuts at the very beginning so that is when she got my utmost attention. Haha.

Persuasion

Ignore that last post. I pressed enter on accident.

But anyway, most college students wake up at around 7 o'clock for their 8 o'clock class.  They probably stumbled into bed at roughly midnight if not later. In adults, such meager sleep is known to affect day-to-day functioning.  However, teenagers are biologically driven to sleep longer and later than adults do.  Therefore, the effects of insufficient sleep are likely to be more dramatic.

Insufficient sleep has been shown to cause difficulties in school, including disciplinary problems, sleepiness in class and poor concentration.  Now I know that all we have to do is go to bed earlier.  But with a stiff schedule that intersects baseball, studies, and volunteer work.  One might have trouble getting to bed until very late.

Therefore, I am proposing that we get a day off to get our stuff together or just simply make us show to class at around 8 30 or 8 45 to give us more precious minutes of sleep.  This will make us more alert in class, make us concentrate better, and will make us feel less tired.  So if you give us this extra time, our class will benefit from it greatly

Today Dr. Higgins came and talked to us today about the Folk Arts Department here at school.  She told us how important it was for her to write in her department.  She also told us that she and another partner were writing a book so I thought that was pretty cool.

Bad "Memo"ries

Today we got to make up our own bad memo.  I complained about a nagging annoying woman named Shaniqua.  I used many run ons and tried to be as grammatically incorrect as I possibly could. So, it turned out to be fun because I got to use my imagination.

A speaker came in today and talked to us about the company she works for.  She works at a research called Battelle. I have never heard of the company before today. I went to the company's website as she was talking and they create medical products and many other things.  I thought that it was cool when she said that they were the ones who created the candy coat on the M&M's. Alo, we worked on our job ads and our contracts for next class.

Today we had a speaker come in and talk to us.  Her name was Christina Mattson and she was very informative. She showed us how to look up somebody's background to see if they are credible to hire them for a job or not.  We also turned in our press release and I wrote my opinion on the other group's project proposals on Tuesday. It was a great day.

Today we presented our business proposition and I'm not going to lie I was pretty nervous.  Jy is our CEO, I am the chief marketer, Lollis is the sound engineer and he creates the posters and flyers, and Gebhart is the talent scout/agent.  We deliberated with other businesses such as the restaurants, non-profit, and the advertising groups so we can make business deals to make the most profit for our company.

Today Dr. Heitmann came in and talked to us about writing in the scientific field.  I didn't know that there was so much writing in science.  I also worked on my memo and y mission statement in class because I knew I wouldn't be able to do it at any other time today before 5 o'clock because of practice.  So I am glad I got that done and I am glad that Dr. Heitmann shared his time with us at the beginning.

Today we were supposed to get in our groups and work on our mission statement and business proposal.  I am really glad we have Jay in our group because when we got into the group, he had already came up with a proposal and mission statement.  All we had to do was give him feedback and what we thought about it.  We gave a few suggestions but for the most part, he was dead on with everything.  At the end of the proposal he had Jay Coburn, Ceo. and that is exactly what he should be in our group.

I think that for the recording studio, we must do research on other recording studios around the country or even around the world.  We also need to research what positions there are at the recording studio and maybe even how much they are paid.  We can research what kind of work they do in order to keep the studio running.

Today we got into our groups for the first tim.  It's good that I have 2 teammates in my group with me so it will be easy to communicate with them.  Also we have another group member named Jay and he looks like he will work hard with us and I am looking forward to working with him also.  Today we came up with certain jobs for each person, the recording studio name, artists we are going to work for, and also a bar we will work with to get our artists to perform there to be seen by the public.  It was a good class day and I am looking forward to Thursday.

Goals

My first impression of this class is that I figure we will be doing a good bit of presentations.  My only concerns about this class is that I will miss a few classes for baseball so I am afraid I might fall behind.  One goal of mine for this class is to learn to communicate better with people on a more professional level. And another goal is to get a good grade. I'm leaning toward joining the recording studio group because I love listening to music and I think it would be fun learning how to run a business like that.
